Editor's Commentary:
This poll was actually our way of determining what age groups are represented on the SexEditorials.com website. Instead of just asking, "What's your age?", we decided to ask how long ago your first orgasm was. Of course, many people have their first orgasm before puberty, but we can still get a pretty good idea of what ages are reading the site. We were pleased to see a relatively even distribution of ages represented on this site.*
We did expect to see a large percentage of younger people represented for two reasons (1) younger men are more likely to be curious about information on sexuality, therefore more likely to find the site and (2) younger people are more represented in any Internet poll because before 10 years ago, Internet skills were not taught in schools. We were pleased to see that at least 27%* of our readers are over 31. We expect this age group to increase in numbers over time. Although we think it is great to have younger contributors to this site, we also recognize the importance of having a significant portion of men with life experience, especially because we offer interactive contribution pages where readers can write their own personal experiences.
Scientifically speaking, with regard to statistics, this poll is a bit skewed. We knew we would get more responses from younger readers, so the younger age brackets got smaller intervals to choose from. In other words, there is a smaller gap between "2-3 years ago" than there is between "41-50 years ago". Since we aren't selling anything and we're not in court, we thought it would be neat to be honest and let you in on this discrepancy. Nevertheless, we can see significant ly higher response from older readers than we originally expected.

In this poll, we wanted to see how representative each sexual preference group is among our readers. It was interesting to see that only slightly over 50%* of people say they are "Entirely Heterosexual", yet the vast majority of people are at least "Majority Heterosexual".
It seems this survey is a good indicator of the theories that conclude there is a "sexual spectrum" rather than categorical groups of sexual preferences. 3.5%* of those surveyed indicated they are "solosexual" (preferring self-masturbation) and 1.6%* say they are "None of the Above". We had no idea what to expect with those two choices being offered.

In this poll, we were trying to determine what people believe is the cause of sexual preference. Unfortunately, it appears that a sizable portion of the population is misinformed. However, the results are slightly skewed because sexuality is most likely caused by more than one factor. This poll forces the participant to pick one choice, which causes the participant to eliminate other possible underlying factors that they may be considering. But in reality, sexuality is caused by a combination of (1) Peer Acceptance/Rejection at critical stages in an individual's life and probably also (2) Nature [Genetics].
It could be argued that genetics can be considered Random Chance. However, there are other things that could occur besides genetic influence that might also fall under the Random Chance category.
It is highly unlikely that sexual preference is caused by Personal Choice, but about 27.8%* thought it was the answer. Sexual preference is more of a "finding out" process rather than a "choosing" process.

Just as we expected, the average frequency of orgasm is about one per day.*
Many men worry if they are having too much masturbation or too much sex,
while others worry that they are not having enough. It is probably also safe to say
that 3+ times a day might be a bit much. However, it really depends on how much
of your life the masturbation or sexual activity is consuming. Persistent preoccupation
with sexual thoughts can be problematic, especially if other activities are being
neglected in order to fulfill sexual desires.
