Some people say that metrosexuals don't exsist. Some say they do. Some say it doesn't matter, just be yourself. I agree with the last one - just be yourself. You don't need a label to determine who you are. However you need a label to tell others who you are. If you are going out wearing nice shirts, dress jeans, polished shoes etc etc, and people believe that you're gay because of it, but you're straight, you need a term that describes it to them. Metrosexual is a term that does that. It's not a label, and it's not a sexual preference. It's a term that can help describe what you are. It's quite likely that you may move out of metrosexuality later on in life. I'm currently studying music in a Conservatorium, and it is here that I find Metrosexuals rule. Almost every male dresses well. It is quite common to find people with dressy jeans, designer shirts, shoes, fancy glasses etc. They're not gay, and almost all of them have girlfriends. Infact, I think there is only one gay guy (possibly two) in my year. It doesn't change who they are. They're all really nice guys, and we all get along with each other. I think Women are starting to look for guys that are willing to display more of their feminine sides. A bit of understanding goes a long way. Respect for the female etc etc. However, they should still be able to show a masculine side. Be able to enjoy a good sports match (Rugby Union (not league), Basketball, Soccer, Cricket, AFL etc (Not NFL. C'mon 5 hours to play a 1 hour match? get real)), be able to hold a beer (I'm talking about a real beer. Fullstrength with some nice hops and malts. Not Budweiser. Can't see why it's so popular. Get a real beer in you - Carlton Draught, Victoria Bitter, Redback, Coopers. None of this light crap (unless you're driving)). Open the door for the ladies, suprise them with roses. Take them out to dinner and concert. Sit through a chick-flic with them. You can still look nice while doing all these things. Metrosexuality is a term to describe the way you dress. It's not a label. You can't go into a store and say to the attendant "Hi, I'm looking for some metrosexual shirts." Being metrosexual is wearing clothes that look good on you. For some people This will mean wearing shirts that are the right colours for their skin (eg because I have red hair and fair skin, I shouldn't wear red because it makes me look sunburnt. However wearing blue, brown, green and earth tones really look good on me) It is possible to be a metrosexual without spending money. Stores like K-mart and Target have good clothing departments. Sure, not all of their stuff is excellent, but you can get the basics. Socks and Underwear are great from here - inexpensive and long lasting (most of the time). Every now and then they will have a good shirt that will look great on you. However it can sometimes be neccessary to find a mens wear store just to get the few extras that are neccessary for you to get the whole kit together. Some tailored shirts, dress trousers, smart casual shirts and t-shirts. Invest in a nice pair of black dress shoes. Neutral coloured shoes go well with anything. See, it's possible to be a metrosexual and keep your masculine side. It's not losing the man, it's making the man better.

SEXUALITY: Straight
GENDER: Male
TITLE: ManCandy
Remember the rennaisanze, when men used to wear tighst around their legs, powder on their faces, and elderly woman wigs on their heads? I wonder if that was consdered to be masculine, or metrosexual...
SEXUALITY: Gay
GENDER: Male
TITLE: Metrosexual Men of the Present, Lifestyle of the Future...
A Metrosexual is the ultimate man. Throughout the decade of the 90's, society has made men an women find their identity and forcing them to match these with the celebrities or sex/fab icons through the world. The desire of perfection, look a like and celebrities and issues relates has made society develop to a point where shows focus on making ordinary civillians look a like celebrities throgh the steps of plastic crgury. The Metrosexual is a developed man, who cares about image, has a stable financial possition and neither is gay or straight, he is metro! Whatever comes if it feels good, it will be good. For the time being, men will always love Dolce & Gabanna and women will fight for= Manolo Blahnik'a shoes. As long that happens, the world will still be normal.
SEXUALITY: Homosexual
GENDER: Male
TITLE: Ben
I think that a man who calls himself a metrosexual but enjoys sex with men occaisionally (eg i'm straight but I still like men) is too scared of accepting who he really is. There is nothing wrong with being bisexual or homosexual its the way we are born and there is no changing it. For years I told myself that even though I was attracted to men I could still marry a women and have kids and act straight, I was very scared of being gay. I eventually realised that I was kidding myself and this was never going to work because if I did force myself to stay with a women I was never going to be sexually satisfied which can cause major problems of all sorts later in life. This happens to many people which is very sad because they were too scared to accept what is totally normal early in life. I am very pleased that I was able to accept being gay within myself early in life and when I say early in life I mean 20-21. I am out to all my friends and family now, i'm 22 living with my partner and couldn't be happier, I just wish that more men and women are able to come to terms with being homosexual. Society needs more knowlege of reality that can't be changed. Its totally normal and I havent had one bad response from over 300 people. Family, extended family, friends, work colleuges.
